He divides his time between creative writing and designing content for websites.
He has written two novels, The Wrong Story and An Other’s Look (due out in February 2020), and a novella, Fizz. He has published a number of prize-winning short stories, a travelogue of his journey through Central America and a monthly column for The Gudgeon magazine. He designs and delivers tutor-led workshops for fiction writers and is a regular speaker at writers’ events.
His editorial company provides written content design and information architectures for local and central government, NGOs and not-for-profit organisations – including writing guidelines, tone-of-voice principles and reading age assessments. He is an advocate of Plain English guidelines, the Government Digital Service (GDS) style guide and the GOV.UK Design System. He has recently designed and written the content for the:
- Borough of Broxbourne Council’s digital services website
- UK Visas and Citizenship Application Services website
He has an MSt in Creative Writing from the University of Oxford and is a member of the Society of Authors and the International Flann O’Brien Society. He is a presenter on Frome FM’s On-Air Book Group, a contributor to Carers UK‘s creative writing campaigns and was an ambassador and volunteer for Shooting Star Chase, a children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
He is one of the three founder members of the Cherwell and Avon Book Group and when he’s not writing or reading he brightens up his neighbours’ day by playing his tenor ukulele and practicing acoustic guitar.
